I try to listen to a balanced mix. Modern music with lyrics tends to be made by emotionaly unstable people (for whatever reason) and is not good to listen to in large doses. Pre war classical music is evocative of imperialism which is outdated and frankly not appropriate, much of post war classical associated music with French philosophy which is relaxing but too far down the ineffectual end of the spectrum for me to listen to for too long. I listen to about 20% regular western music(pop/rock/classical), 20% eastern stuff and 60% totally weird shit (I also make weird shit myself). Here’s one I made with a vibrating love egg suspended from a chaotic pendulum and a series of mirrors, solar panels and lasers (not my day job so hopefully doesnt count as an ad) - https://soundcloud.com/opto-noise/raw-latex
That is really awesome! I was chilling out to it. Do you have any more?
I can’t stop listening to this retarded proto-cloud rap song from 2009. It’s really catchy for some reason.
heres a cool one:

Lately I’ve been listening to the new Anamanaguchi tracks in anticipation of their upcoming album in October, as well as some emo (Mineral, Emperor X, etc.) since I find that genre resonates with me more during the autumn for some reason.
